Programs & Activities

PBC members of all ages are active in many church-affiliated programs and activities.

Placer Buddhist Women's Association (Fujinkai)

PBWA celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2002. This group meets monthly and is responsible for coordinating and supporting many church activities. Ongoing projects include cookbook sales.

Dharma School

Dharma School children meet at 10:00 am on Sundays, except during summer.

Ume Taiko

Interested in learning the ancient Japanese art of drumming? PBC has its own taiko dan (group)!

Senior Program

At the monthly senior fun day, attendees have watched videos, taken their blood pressure, learned about accupressure, taken many bus trips, and played bingo. The seniors also enjoy lunch together.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi helps with stress relief, deep breathing, and balance. Classes are held on Sunday, 9:00-10:30 am. Herb Whitaker is the instructor.

Dance Exercise

This class meets on Friday, 9:00-11:00 am. As Obon approaches, the group will practice minyo dances.

Calligraphy (Shodo)

Participants in this class meet once a month. Tom Hirota, an advanced student, helps the class.

Flower Arrangement (Kado)

This class meets once a month. Yumi Dargel is the instructor. She helps us for the food bazaar, New Year's party, and whenever she can come to the monthly class.

Sutra Chanting (Dokkyo)

Rev. Tesshi Aoyama is the instructor for this monthly class. The class is held the first Friday of each month from 8:30–9:00am.
